I don't know if I posted this recently or not, but I still believe it to be true.
A VETERAN
Whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount "up to and including their life".
That is HONOR, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.

Since the ending of the draft in '73, the USA has had almost two generations of male Americans who predominantly have not experienced the concept of in-service to the country.
As mentioned, if one wore the uniform it represented a blank check obligation of the wearer to the USA in an undetermined amount, up to and including one's life.
