91st Edidtion of the Carnival of Education

Now open at the Median Sib:

Some good posts to check out:

NCLB: Let's Get It Right points out that NCLB has led to an increase of 3.9 million man hours spent on data collection and reporting--according to Paperwork Reduction Act statistics. The Irony, the Irony, the Irony.

Darren, at Right on the Left Coast, talks about transparency and his Union rebate check. Interesting changes from year to year.

California LiveWire talks about some of the freebies that come with textbook deals. While such benefits are common practice in business, are they bribes to get schools to buy textbooks. Perhaps, but if school boards and school systems provided some of the supplies given as freebies by textbook companies, perhaps such freebies wouldn't exist. Somehow I doubt it and teachers should not feel any guilt for freebies if it means they get good textbooks.
