"One speaker was Debra Colbrook from The United Teachers of Los Angeles. She started with a story:Assuming the facts are true, which I doubt, well done Soldiers.
"'My son is 15 years old. Last week he encountered army recruiters at his high school football practice. When they approached him, he asked them how they could sleep at night knowing that they are sending away young people to die for a war over oil and greed. Our young are our future fighters.'"
Well, Skippy, I'm certain the recruiters sleep extremely well at night knowing they live in a country where even a snot-nosed kid can mouth off to a soldier - and the soldier will just politely walk away.
But let's take a look at little deeper.
First, I am pretty sure that the recruiters didn't just walk up to the practice to recruit. They may have been standing there watching but they almost certainly were not "recruiting." Likewise, I will bet that these "recuiters" may have been former students just watching practice or coming to see their former coach.
Second, no Army personnel would ever, EVER, disrupt a practice without express and immediate permission from the coach--that runs counter to everything the Army instills, such as respect for authority. Apparently Junior needs to learn that lesson. Again, I suspect the "recruiters" were just watching. And what is Junior doing leaving practice to harangue a couple of soldiers?
Third, and finally, football practice--in March????!!!!! Last I checked, football was played in the fall and most states, incuding California, have very specific rules about when high schools can hold practice and I am 99.9% sure that March is not a practice time.
Lies, Lies and Lies.
