Bocanegra Handed Captain's Armband

With striker and captain Brian McBride out until at least Christmas, Fulham manager Lawrie Sanchez turned to another American to lead the team on the field. Defender Carlos Bocanegra will serve as team captain for the Whites. From the Fulham news feed:
“It’s an honour to be captain - it was my first Premier League game as captain and it was a special feeling to lead the guys out at home. Brian is our Club captain and I’m just filling in for him. Brian has earned it and because of his unfortunate injury anyone who is captain is just filling in for him."
Bocanegra was one of the leaders of the U.S. National Team during the Gold Cup earlier this summer and has advanced both his skill and leadership ability.
