Tragedy In African Soccer

Sad day for Soccer worldwide.

While this story is not getting huge coverage in the States, most of American commentators would find this as an example of what is bad about soccer world wide.

But that is not really the issue. While the deaths are certainly tragic, it would not have been possible if not for the popularity of the game. To be sure the UN authorities should have been better with crowd control, this kind of story is not possible without considering the incredible popularity of soccer worldwide.
