Beckham Introduced by L.A. Galaxy

Dan Steinberg at the D.C. Sports Bog has a round up of all the rigamorle. There was the predicatable media circus over both David Beckham and Victoria (Posh) Beckham. This quote gives you an idea of the circus:
Whoa, Posh just showed up, in a tight pink-purple dress, wearing shades. She struck a pose for the photogs (maybe 40 or 50 of them by the VIP area), and held it for 60 seconds. Literally, the same pose, for 60 seconds. Then the Galaxy supporters started chanting "One Of Us, One of Us, One of Us," as she waved at them, repeatedly. Someone unveiled a big gold banner: "Bend it Like Golden Balls." Posh waved again, and was greeted with another ovation. Ovations will be cheap today.
All this to introduce a new player for the MLS. It makes the NFL draft or the NBA draft positively boring by comparison.

MLS has a lot riding on David Beckham and Beckham has a lot riding on his move here. I am hoping that people will watch the soccer as much as they watch the Beckhams.

MLS is already making a mint off of Beckham. You can order your own Beckham jersery for $79.99. While I like Beckham, I don't know if I will order one or not. I might ask for one for Christmas though--let someone other than my wife buy it.
