Central Maryland to Get USL-2 Club

The United Soccer Leagues has announced that central Maryland will get a USL-2 division club that will begin play in 2008. The team, which may be called Real Maryland, but that has yet to be confirmed, will represent the cities of Frederick, Germantown, Rockville, Bethesda, Silver Spring, College Park and Columbia, which is my neck of the woods.

The Real Maryland club and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds will bring the total of USL-2 clubs to 12.

The team doesn't have a staduim or playing location as of yet, although it may play at the Germantown Soccerplex, which also serves as home to the Washington Freedom. I would hope that Frederick and/or Columbia would also compete for a place to host the club.
