Jim Geraghty discusses Mike Huckabee and comes to a similar conlusion as I have-- a good guy with some good appeal but a little short on the policy.
To be sure, Huckabee at this point cannot be all things to all people and his populism has some appeal. The problem with his lack of policy ideas and proposals is that he is running out of time to present both. Four, eight or twelve years ago, Huckabee could have turned this populism in to good showings in Iowa and New Hampshire and gone on to win nomination not unlike another Arkansas governor. But with the primaries frontloaded, he doesn't have the time. Still, he makes a very, very good case for a VP nod if he loses.
