Fulham Manager Sanchez Confident as Result of Summer Signing

Fulham Football Club's manager, a Irishman with the unlikely name of Lawrie Sanchez is happy with his summer signings and is feeling confident about this year's Premiership campaign.

I am glad he is confident, but a team that barely escaped relegation last year thanks to a timely goal by American midfielder Clint Dempsey, needs to be wary. A fair number of so-called experts have predicted relegation this year for the Cottagers.

With eight signings this summer, Fulham have cause for optimism and cause for concern. The new players will need to gel quickly with the current roster. Of the eight, the most recent addition, Hameur Bouazza may be the most significant. Bouazza is a speedy striker and may compliment the very solid air game of Brian McBride with a solid ground game. But still, Fulham has a long way to go this season.

I don't know what Sanchez is hoping for this season, but for me a top 12 finish in the Premiership would be enough of an improvement if coupled with a solid performance in the FA Cup, preferably a fifth round appearance in which they don't get drubbed like they did this year by Tottenham Hotspur (a 4-0 loss). A sixth round appearance would, of course symbolize advancement as well.
