This story is going to be the talk of the sphere today and to be honest--I could care less.
The New Republic may be in its death throes now and certainly Frank Foer is probably on his way out the door. I put the over/under at 2 weeks.
The story is not about Beauchamp or even about The New Republic, but about the overwhelming desire by the media be first before being accurate. In teh neverending quest for ratings and circulation numbers, too many shortcuts are being taken and that is leading to mistakes like this one that could mean the downfall of a publication and certainly an editor all because a "story" was too sensational to fact check.
