Media Relations director Jon Hussey who spearheaded this program at the Center said it best – “This was an event that went well beyond the other charter events I have seen. It had a grassroots/community feel, legislators were involved so it has the opportunity of affecting legislation, and with press involved - and the stories that have been published so far - it is reaching the public with the charter message.”
Indeed, the schools all seemed to agree that not enough people know what’s going on in their world of education reform. This blog site and others like it help to overcome that challenge, but more can always be done. The winners of the NCSOY award are not the schools you’ll hear about on Oprah, but they should be, every one of them. See for yourself by hopping on CER’s website and learning about them and taking even a virtual visit.
