Wow! Midfielder Saves Penalty Kick

About six weeks ago I reported on the story of DC United's game against Cruz Azul in the CONCACAF Champions league where both of DC United Goalkeepers were sent off and midfielder Quavas Kirk filled in as goalkeeper. That was a rough gig, but over the weekend, something similar happened in Germany. The Offside has the story of Hannover 96 v. Wolfsburg, but a little different. Hannover has already made three substitutions when their keeper Florian Fromlovitz took down a Wolfsburg player in the box. Midfielder Jan Rosenthal was recruited to tend the net with his first duty to defend a penalty kick. Most penalties result in goals and no one would have blamed Rosenthal if he didn't save the penalty--but he didn't.

See the video.

Amazing.
